Why Our Prices Are Lower

Why our prices are lower

Commercial-grade aluminium reformers. $1,529–$2,249. Comparable machines from other Australian retailers start at $2,799. Here's exactly why — and what you should know before drawing conclusions about quality.

The standard distribution chain

Most fitness equipment in Australia passes through at least three commercial layers before it reaches a customer:

1
Manufacturer Produces the equipment. Sets a factory price — typically 20–35% of the final retail price.
2
Importer / Exclusive distributor Buys in bulk, handles compliance, warehouses in Australia. Adds 40–80% margin to cover logistics, storage, and profit.
3
Retail distributor Buys from the importer, stocks showroom or warehouse. Adds 30–60% margin.
4
Consumer Pays the final retail price — often 3–5× the factory cost.

MZ Reformer removes layers 2 and 3. We source directly and sell directly. The machines are the same commercial specification. The price is lower because the chain is shorter.

What "same specification" means specifically

This is the claim that matters, so we'll be precise about it:

Specification MZ Reformer (PM5396, $1,781) Typical $3,500+ competitor
Frame material Aerospace-grade aluminium alloy Aluminium alloy
Spring system Piano-wire (studio standard) Piano-wire (studio standard)
Carriage dimensions Commercial studio specification Commercial studio specification
Max user weight 136 kg 120–160 kg depending on model
Warranty 12 months (all components) Varies — often frame only for 2–10 years
Price AUD $1,781 AUD $3,000–$5,000+
The machines are not identical — different manufacturers produce different designs. But the specification category (aerospace aluminium frame, piano-wire springs, commercial carriage dimensions) is the same. You are not paying for inferior materials or construction. You are paying less because there are fewer people taking a margin.

What we don't do — and why it matters

No inflated compare-at prices. We don't artificially inflate a "was" price to create a fake discount. The prices you see are our actual prices.

No perpetual sales. We don't run "50% off this weekend only" promotions. Our prices are the same every day.

No upselling to a higher-priced model. We have three machines and we'll tell you honestly which one suits your situation — including whether the cheaper model is the right choice for you.

The honest trade-offs

Being direct about what the lower price doesn't include:

  • No showroom. You can't try before you buy. We offer a free consultation call and a 30-day in-home trial to compensate.
  • 12-month warranty, not 10-year. We cover all components for 12 months. Some premium brands offer longer structural warranties (frame only). We think covering everything for 12 months is more useful than covering just the frame for 10 years.
  • $99 delivery outside Brisbane. Full-service retailers often include delivery in their price. Our $99 flat rate to all Australian addresses is the actual cost of freight for a 45 kg item — not a profit centre.
